That Chozo is thinking, "She'll grow up to be a chess master!"

This is a scene which probably never occured in the Metroid timeline, for the Chozo and the Luminoth most likely did not meet in Samus's lifetime.

Can any of you even comprehend how much time this picture has taken out of my life? Somewhere between 60-100 hours, and I'm not exaggerating. When the Luminoth's shoulder took 12 hours and its hands 7, 60 hours on the rest of the pic is pretty reasonable. Well, this was my first project on Photoshop using my new tablet, and I took the time to experiment with many different techniques. The ocean and some of the grass came from random photos, but the rest, including sky and trees, were hand drawn.

The Luminoth's chess pieces actually spell some words. You can read it if you know how to decipher their alphabet and squint hard. I hope I got all the angles and junctions correct... The Chozo pieces don't mean anything specifically, but I might change them if there are Chozo runes in the next Metroid game or something.

I think I've been staring at the picture for too long, because the picture and the concept no longer interest me. Now I must work on something new...
